Gift-givers have their eyes firmly on technology products this year but may not spend as many of their dollars as in recent years.
The Consumer Technology’s Association’s (CTA) Annual Holiday Forecast paints a rosy picture for manufacturers as gift-giving intentions skew heavily toward tech. Retailers however, may not see their holiday stocking quite as full this year, almost entirely because of falling pricetags on popular devices such as laptops and 4K TVs.
Despite some mixed signals from those surveyed, the general consensus is more consumers will buy more technology products this year than in recent holiday seasons but the percentage of their total spending on tech will drop slightly in dollars. However, emerging technology devices such as wearables and smart home products have a very good chance of being a holiday home run for stores.
