iPod Video To Take Flight

Cupertino, Calif. — Apple has teamed up with the airline industry to allow passengers to play video from their iPods on airline screens starting in 2007.

In-flight iPod connectivity will be available on Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United passengers beginning in mid-2007. Apple is also working with Panasonic Avionics to collaborate with additional airlines, Apple said.

The airlines will offer iPod seat connectors that power and charge the iPod and allow the video content to stream to seat back displays, said Apple.

Nearly 70 million iPods have sold to date.
