iPod Tops Amazon’s 2006 Best-Seller List In CE

Seattle — Apple’s ubiquitous iPod has topped Amazon.com‘s “Best of 2006 List” of best-selling products within the consumer electronics category.

According to the e-tailer, iPod, in all its iterations, outsold all other CE products purchased on Amazon by unit volume.

But the fifth-generation, 30 GB iPod with video playback, in black, was the “most wished for” CE device, having appeared most often on the online Wish Lists of Amazon.com‘s CE customers in 2006.

But the CE product most positively reviewed by Amazon customers was not an iPod or even an MP3 player. That honor went to Sony’s 5-megapixel Cyber-shot digital still camera with 5x optical zoom, model DSCF707.

In other news, Amazon.com is now posting the Samsung Blu-ray Disc player with a new low $569.99 selling price, down from $899.99. The new price puts the player in closer competition with Toshiba’s HD DVD players, which start at $399.99 for the HD-A2 model on the e-commerce site.
