iPod Beats Out Beer In Campus Poll

Ridgewood, N.J. — In what can only be viewed as a huge accolade for Apple, a recent survey of college students found that most consider their iPod the most “in” thing in their lives, even more important than beer.

The Student Monitor, which tracks trends among college undergraduates, found that 73 percent of 1,200 students polled said iPods were “in,” up from 59 percent last year. Beer did manage to come in second place with 71 percent of the students, tying the social networking Web site Facebook.com.

The iPod also beat out downloading music and instant messaging as a student favorite.
