iPhone To Join iPad At Target

Minneapolis – Target will begin selling the iPhone for the
first time on Nov. 7, when the chain’s 846 stores with Target Mobile Centers
begin offering the iPhone 3G S and iPhone 4 in all memory capacities.

The iPhone will also
appear in new Target Mobile Centers as they roll out to most of Target’s 1,752
stores by mid-2011, a spokesperson told TWICE.

Apple’s expanded iPhone distribution could help the supplier
boost its

declining U.S. smartphone unit
share

despite rising unit sales. In the third quarter, NPD found
that among consumers, Android’s share rose on a year-over-year basis from 3
percent to 44 percent, while RIM’s share fell from 46 percent to 22 percent.
Apple’s share also fell, but more moderately from 19 percent to 23 percent.

 The iPhone 4 is also
available through Best Buy, Walmart and RadioShack. Target

began selling the iPad

in all of its stores on Oct. 3.
