Fremont, Calif. – Video software maker InterVideo introduced a new product today designed to convert home videos for playback on video iPods and Sony’s Playstation Portable.

The $29.99 iVideoToGo Platinum features a three-step conversion process that occurs in a single window.

The software features the company’s CopyLater technology that lets users convert collections of video when the computer is idle. Through the Copy to Go feature videos stored on a computer can be automatically synced with iPods and PSPs and file folder monitoring can convert new video files to PSP/iPod formats at regularly scheduled intervals.

Using the software, consumers can trim their video to divide it into DVD chapters of remove the beginning and end of a video file

Video is converted using the H.264 codec (MPEG-4). According to InterVideo the software can convert up to 85 hours of video on a 30GB iPod and over 2.5 hours on a 1GB Memory Stick for PSP. The software also supports the AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, DivX, ASF, DVR-MS, and 3GP formats, among others.

The software will ship in October.

Canadian-based graphics software maker Corel announced last month that it would purchase InterVideo, pending regulatory and shareholder approvals.
