Insteon Expands Best Buy Presence

Irvine, Calif. — Mass-market home-automation supplier Insteon will expand its Best Buy presence by rolling out its product to another 170 Best Buy stores by July 11.

The expansion will put Insteon products into 280 Best Buy stores. Insteon’s line is already available at BestBuy.com.

The products going into the stores are the “most popular Insteon SKUs, including Insteon starter kits with network hub and a “handful” of other products, all controllable from smartphones and tablets, an Insteon spokesperon said. ,

Best Buy’s online store sells the entire Insteon line, the spokesman added. Products range from dimming modules, security cameras, network-controlled bulbs, thermostats, motion sensors, garage-door kits and the like.

Insteon technology uses a combination of powerline and RF technology to ensure control signals reach all connected devices in a home, the company said.

Insteon owner SmartLabs sells Insteon-brand products through its Smarthome.com website and through other online retailers such as Amazon, Sears.com, and Walmart.com. The company also sells through select Costco and Home Depot brick-and-mortar stores and through the Costco and Home Depot online stores, a spokesman said.

Insteon also plans to expand into additional brick-and-mortar outlets, the spokesman added.
