iLuv Ships 2 Universal Docking Speakers

Port Washington, N.Y. – iLuv Creative Technology began
shipping its first two universal docking speaker systems, which are designed to
hold smartphones and charge them via their MicroUSB port.

The products are
targeted to users of Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones.

 The $119-suggested
MobiAir (iMM377) and $99
MobiDock (iMM375) use robotic
arms to grasp and hold smartphones of differing sizes. A sliding MicroUSB connector
slides to the left or right to charge most smartphones via their 5-watt MicroUSB
charging port, including smartphones in protective cases. The phone’s MicroUSB port
can be on the top, bottom or sides of a phone or to the left, center or right
side of those surfaces. Depending on the location of the phone’s port, the
phone will be placed in landscape or portrait mode in the dock’s arms.

To transfer audio from the smartphone to the speaker system,
the MobiAir uses stereo Bluetooth. MobiAir also doubles as a hands-free
speakerphone. The MobiDock uses an analog aux-in to capture music from a
smartphone’s headphone output.
