iHeartradio Takes Top Slot On BlackBerry

New York — Clear Channel Radio said its iHeartradio Internet Radio application rose to the No. 2 slot for all of Blackberry App World — the new over-the-air download store delivering apps directly to a Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry.
iHeartradio is also the No. 3 leading free music app within the music category on the Apple App Store behind Pandora and Shazam. iHeartradio, offering streams of 150 radio stations, has experienced 257,756 downloads on BlackBerry devices since BlackBerry App World launched April 1, said Clear Channel.
This weekend it surpassed nearly all other apps of all types on the BlackBerry, including MySpace and Facebook, to take the No. 2 slot, it said, behind Viigo for BlackBerry — an app that allows one-click access to many popular apps.
Users are listening to iHeartradio an average of 73 minutes per week, it said. On the Apple App Store, iHeartradio had been downloaded more than a million times as of mid March, or 20 weeks after launch. iHeartradio streams music via cellular network or Wi-Fi.
Users can bookmark favorite stations and all music is broadcast in the AAC format. On BlackBerry App World, it works with models including the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Pearl. A BlackBerry Storm version is expected soon.
