Redmond, Wash. – Unlocked-phone supplier i-mate introduced its first four PDA-phones based on the Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS.
They’re due in November and December.
All four feature quad-band GSM/EDGE, triband HSPA (high speed packet access), WiFi 802.11 b/g, FM stereo radio, camera, and GPS combined with Windows Live Search to get driving directions.
The first two will be the Ultimate 6150 and 8150 candybar models, the former with only 2.8-inch touchscreen and the latter with 2.8-inch touchscreen plus dialing keypad with T9 predictive text entry. The 8502 and 9502 feature 2.6- and 2.8-inch touchscreens, respectively, with the 8502 adding integrated QWERTY keyboard and the 9502 offering slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Unsubsidized prices are $695 and $725 for the 6150 and 8150, respectively. Pricing on the 8502 and 9502 wasn’t set at press time.
An XGA output enables PowerPoint presentations on projectors and monitors with up to 1024 x 769 resolution.
All are upgradable to support Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, a new mobile-dedicated server to help enterprises manage Windows Mobile phones as they do Windows-based laptops and PCs. With Mobile Device Manager, companies can deliver new applications to phones over the air as well as connect people via Mobile VPN (virtual private network) with security-enhanced access.
