HTC Getting New CMO

Taipei, Taiwan – Struggling smartphone maker HTC will replace its chief marketing officer in January with telecom executive Benjamin Ho, who will report directly to CEO Peter Chou.

Ho, who replaces John Wang, will be responsible for worldwide marketing and branding to lead the company “into its next phase of brand marketing and awareness,” the company said.

In another change, Jason Mackenzie, HTC’s current president of global sales and marketing, will focus on HTC’s global sales strategy, the company said.

Ho’s first task will be to lead a project called Marketing 2.0, intent on “refocusing HTC’s efforts around holistic marketing and mass-market brand outreach,” the company said.
