HP Gives To Hurricane Relief

Palo Alto, Calif. — Hewlett-Packard and its employees are making a series of donations to assist organizations that are working to support and provide relief to those affected by this year’s hurricane season.

The Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation, HP’s charitable arm, has made a cash grant of $500,000 to the American Red Cross for this purpose and it also plans to match up to $250,000 in U.S. employee contributions to the Red Cross and other organizations assisting directly with hurricane relief efforts.

In addition to donating money, HP said it donated approximately $200,000 worth of notebooks to the Greater Houston Area Red Cross to help organization personnel manage relief and recovery efforts throughout the region affected by Hurricane Ike.

The company said it is also helping to match employee volunteers with specific skills to relief organizations seeking those skills.
