HP Bows Late Summer Digicams

Palo Alto, Calif. — Hewlett-Packard unveiled nine new digital cameras today, including its first with a 3.6-inch interactive touchscreen LCD.

All but one of the cameras will ship in August.

Topping the list is the Photosmart R937. The 8-megapixel camera features a 3.6-inch touchscreen LCD and a Microsoft Vista compatible tagging feature for organizing digital images on camera. The camera can display a virtual keyboard on the LCD for organizing images before transferring them to a PC.

The R937 also incorporates HP’s Design Gallery image-correction technologies including red-eye reduction for pets and blemish removal for humans. The camera can add colors and borders to images and features 32MB of internal memory, panoramic stitching, a 3x optical zoom and will retail for an estimated $299.

The R847 features an 8-megapixel sensor, 3-inch LCD, pet-eye fix, blemish removal, 13 shooting modes and 32MB of internal memory. The camera works with the optional Photosmart 6224 wireless picture manager dock and will sell for an estimated $229.

All of HP’s M-series cameras will feature 16MB of internal memory.

The 7-megapixel M742 features a 3x optical zoom lens, 2.5-inch LCD screen and 13 shooting modes. The model can also add colors and photos to images in-camera and will retail for an estimated $179. It will be available in silver, black and blue.

Also for $179 is the 7-megapixel M737, featuring a 3x optical Pentax lens, 2.5-inch display, anti-shake mode, in-camera red-eye removal and photo tagging.

The 8-megapixel Mz67 sports a 6x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, several Design Gallery technologies and a one-touch video recording button. It will retail for an estimated $199.

The M637 will retail for an estimated $149. The 7-megapixel model features a 3x optical zoom lens, one-touch video button and a 2.4 inch LCD screen.

The 6-megapixel M547 sports a 3x optical zoom lens, 2.4-inch LCD, in-camera red-eye removal and photo borders. It is compatible with HP’s printer dock and Photosmart 2200 camera dock (sold separately). It will retail for an estimated $109.

The M447 is a 5-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and 2.4-inch LCD screen. It offers several scene modes including an anti-shake mode and is expected to retail for $99. The M447 can also connect to HP’s camera and printer docks.

Shipping in July, the 5-megapixel E337 is a fixed lens model with a 1.5-inch LCD screen and an estimated street price of $79.
