HP Adds Low Priced Photo Printer, Scanner

New York – Hewlett-Packard continued its digital imaging program announcing that it is shipping a new color inkjet printer and color scanner for the mass market.

With estimated retail prices of $99 and $199, respectively, the HP Deskjet 920c color inkjet printer and HP Scanjet 5400c color scanner are a part of HP’s effort to reach cost-conscious digital image consumers.

The Deskjet 920c can produce greeting cards, banners, brochures and photos at 2400 x 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) color resolution at speeds of up to 9 pages-per-minute (ppm) in black and up to 7.5 ppm in color. The printer also offers a 100-sheet fold-up paper tray to conserve desktop space and a print-cancel button and low-ink indicator.

The HP Scanjet 5400c color scanner allows consumers to scan at up to 2400-dpi with 48-bit color to produce preview scans in eight seconds. The scanner includes technology that features two sensors that enable consumers to capture detailed color photos and lower resolution text.

Routine tasks are graphically illustrated on the scanner’s front-panel buttons: Scan, Photo Reprint, E-mail, Copy, Share-to-Web, Cancel, Options and Power Save.

HP also announced an update to its HP Premium Plus Photo Papers in 8.5 x 11 size. The improved, 9-millimeter thick photo papers are designed to work with HP inks and inkjet printers. The estimated retail prices for the new HP photo paper ranges from $7.99 to $39.99, depending on size and quantity.
