HP Adds An Android Powered AIO

Palo Alto, Calif. – Hewlett-Packard has expanded its use of the Android by including the OS in its latest all-in-one PC, the Slate 21.

The Slate 21 joins the Split X2, introduced in May, as the company’s second Android-powered computer.

The Slate 21 runs on Android Jelly Bean and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor. It has a 21.5-inch touch display that can be folded almost flat against a desktop and is intended to be used simultaneously by multiple people.

It will ship in the United States in September with a $399 starting price.

Other features include DTS Sound technology, the ability to stream music, movies and browse the web at the same time and an HP TrueVision HD webcam and HP Wireless Direct for connecting to other devices.

The Slate 21 also follows HP’s attempt to differentiate itself in the AIO market when it introduced the HP Envy Rove 20 in May. The Rove 20 is an Intel/Windows AIO, but has a battery making it mobile enough to move around a home.
