Howard’s Adding Tenth Superstore

La Habra, Calif. – Howard’s Appliance and Flat Screen Superstores, the nine-unit Southern California chain based here, plans to add a 10th location in September.

Renovations are presently underway at the site, a former Circuit City storefront in Torrance, Calif., and president Judy Lawrence said the company may continue to buck the soft Southern California market by expanding into additional locations.

“With the increase of available locations … we are evaluating possible other growth opportunities like this one,” said Lawrence, wife of Brand Source CEO Bob Lawrence.

Howard’s, founded by chairman Howard Roach in the back of a San Gabriel, Calif., sporting goods store in 1946, ranked 100th on TWICE’s recent Top 100 CE Retailers listing, with $27 million in electronics sales last year, and 30th on the Top 100 Majap Retailers charts, with $62 million in white-goods sales in 2008.
