Home Builders Using CE To Boost Profits

Arlington, Va. – A
Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) study on the home construction market
indicates builders can use technology as a profit center and differentiating
point in their businesses.

The CEA’s 9

th

Annual State of the Builder Technology Market Study found that 27 percent of
home builders said technology impacts their bottom line; this is up from the 18
percent who said the same thing in 2008.

The report also found
more builders are proactively marketing or providing information upon request
to their customers regarding home technology. This change was particularly
obvious in the multi-room audio category. About 43 percent of builders said
they are now using home audio as a marketing tool, up from 34 percent in 2009.
