hhgregg Entering Eastern Pa.

Harrisburg, Pa. – hhgregg will open
six stores across Eastern Pennsylvania this spring as part of its Mid-Atlantic
expansion.

The stores, which will ring the
Harrisburg and Scranton markets, will join the chain’s first Philadelphia-area
locations this year within the Keystone State.

The multiregional CE and appliance retailer plans to open upwards
of 45 new stores throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in 2010. The rollout is
ahead of schedule, the company said, and a new central distribution center to
support the expansion is set to open next month.

More than half of the new locations will open this spring, with
most of the remaining stores scheduled to open before the holiday selling
season.

The build-out is a major leg in a national expansion strategy
designed to fill the marketplace void left by Circuit City, albeit as a
tightly-managed, 400-store chain.

The new Pennsylvania locations will include Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre
in the Scranton market, and Lancaster, Lower Paxton, Mechanicsburg and York
within the Harrisburg area.

The chain is looking to fill approximately 240 sales, warehouse
and customer service positions, or about 40 jobs per store.

Each new sales associate will receive over 200 hours
of training as
part of hhgregg’s assisted-sales model, the company said.
