Greenfield, Wis. – Wisconsin may be
the next market targeted for entry by hhgregg.
The CE and majap chain will seek
approval to occupy a vacant 40,000-square-foot Ultimate Electronics store located
here near Milwaukee.
According to the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel, the retailer will appear before the local planning commission on
Sept. 13, two days before its 14-store opening throughout the Chicago market,
which lies due south.
With
the Chicago expansion, hhgregg will operate 204 stores in 16 Mid-Atlantic,
Midwest and Southeastern states. Management has said it is seeking to fill the
void left by Circuit City by becoming a strong No. 2 specialty CE/majap chain
with upward of 400 stores nationwide
