Harman Consumer To Get New President

Washington — Richard S. Sorota will become president of the Harman consumer division and a member of Harman International’s group executive committee on Jan. 21, 2008.

Sorota succeeds Gina Harman, daughter of Harman International executive chairman Sidney Harman. Gina Harman accepted a position in the lending industry.

Sorota, a veteran of more than 20 years in the consumer products industry, is senior VP and GM for the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, the world’s largest provider of consumer products for lawn and garden care. Previously, Sorota held senior management positions at Royal Phillips Electronics, Proctor & Gamble and General Electric.

Dinesh C. Paliwal, Harman CEO, called Sorota’s consumer products expertise “deep” and described him as “an accomplished marketer of premium product lines and a committed team builder with a track record of results.”
