GWG Adds Consumer-Direct Division

St. James, N.Y. – Global Warranty Group (GWG), an administrator of insurance-backed warranty and extended service programs for CE, majaps and wireless devices, has launched a new web-based, direct-to-consumer operation.

The new unit, WarrantyEdge, offers extended service plans for new and used products that provide 100-percent coverage, including items that are accidentally damaged or either lost or stolen.

The web-based business takes a page from SquareTrade, the popular extended warranty provider that sells competitively priced coverage direct to consumers.

The site, located at WarrantyEdge.com, suggests that consumers can “save hundreds vs. in-store warranties and service repair costs.” By way of example, prices for complete coverage of a laptop computer less than one year old and valued at under $500 are $8 per month, $100 for two years and $150 for three years.

Like SquareTrade, WarrantyEdge also covers the CE and majap gamut, including mobile devices, laptops, peripherals, TVs, cameras and home theater systems.

The new company leverages its parent’s network of over 25,000 servicers throughout the U.S. and Canada, is fully compliant in both countries, and is 100-percent backed by top-rated Starr Insurance.

“I am excited about the launch of our website, and about the level of coverage we are able to bring to our customers,” said WarrantyEdge president Kevin McColgan. “We feel our plans are far superior to what is available in the market today”.

McColgan added that the site’s launch will be heralded with “special value-added promotions” on iPhone 5 and other popular CE devices.
