Grand Retires; Hecht Named TWICE Publisher

NEW YORK — NewBay Media has announced that Marcia Grand is retiring as VP/publisher of TWICE, the brand she helped start more than 27 years ago. Grand will remain with NewBay Media through the end of April in order to help the transition to new VP/publisher Ed Hecht, who is joining NewBay and takes over TWICE management effective immediately.

“Starting with its earliest days, Marcia has helped build TWICE into the industry-leading powerhouse it is today,” stated Adam Goldstein, executive VP/group publishing director, NewBay Media CE/ gaming group. “We thank her for her years of service and all she has brought to the brand. She will be missed.”

Taking over as TWICE VP/ publisher is Ed Hecht, who comes to NewBay from Meredith Corporation, where he was associate publisher for Midwest Living/Midwestliving.com and helped develop partnerships and create marketing solutions with TripAdvisor.com. He has experience working with top brands, including Samsung, LG, Sony and Canon, where he has created integrated digital campaigns, tie-ins to live events, and data-enhanced direct marketing programs that delivered ROI to the advertising partners. Prior to his recent work at Meredith, Hecht was associate publisher at Time’s Entertainment Weekly/EW.com.

“Ed’s extensive history of working with top brands makes him the ideal person to take over as VP/publisher of TWICE,” said Goldstein. “He has a successful track record in working in print and digital formats, and brings a number of ideas that will make TWICE even more effective for our readers and marketing partners.”

TWICE has several new initiatives geared up for 2013 that build upon its long heritage of serving the CE market with enhanced digital products, increased research and data offerings, lead generation, and live conferences. Some of the new initiatives include the introduction of TWICE’s first-ever product awards program — the VIPs (Very Important Products) — and an increased presence in the 2nd Screen Summit.
