Google Edition Of HTC One On The Way

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. – Google announced its second planned Google Edition phone in as many weeks.

An unlocked Google Edition of HTC’s flagship One smartphone will be available at $599 on June 26 through the Google Play store, the company announced here at the AllThingsD conference.

The LTE-equipped phone will offer a pure Google experience that strips out HTC’s own user interface and HTC’s Android modifications. Google Edition phones are the first Android phones to get software updates, which come directly from Google rather than through the handset maker or carrier.

The phone will run on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks depending on the SIM card inserted.

On May 15, Google announced plans for an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4, which will be available June 26 at $649. This LTE-equipped phone will also operate on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.
