Las Vegas — Goal Zero used International CES to launch two solar-powered generators, including a 1,250-watt model designed to back up critical home appliances such as refrigerators, freezers and home health care  equipment.

The Goal Zero Yeti 1250 Solar Generator Kit features a solar-powered lead-acid battery with three AC, 12-volt and USB outlets and is rated for continuous use. It can be fully charged in about 20 hours with two included 30-watt Boulder 30 solar panels.

Also new is the 12-pound, plug-and-play Yeti 150, designed for camping or emergency preparedness. The generator’s 150-watt battery can power lights, laptops and portable devices via built-in AC, 12-volt and USB ports. It can be fully charged by the sun in 15 hours with the included 15-watt Boulder solar panel.

The Yeti 1250 retails for about $1,500 and the Yeti 150's price is to be announced.
