GM Passes 1 Millionth XM Subscriber

Detroit — General Motors announced today that it surpassed its 1 millionth XM Satellite Radio subscriber.

More than 75 percent of its current customers with XM-equipped vehicles say they would only consider or prefer to buy a vehicle with XM, and 90 percent say they will recommend it to friends and family, said John F. Smith, GM group VP of North America vehicle sales, service and marketing.

GM was the first car maker to offer factory-installed satellite radio and now offers XM in more than 50 car and truck models. The company reported one out of three GM vehicles purchased are equipped with factory-installed XM radios.

XM has sold over 2.5 million subscriptions to its service and expects to surpass 3.1 million by the end of this year.
