Chino, Calif. — Genius has released a 2.4GHz wireless keyboard/touchpad optimized for Windows 8 and its gesture controls.
The SlimStar T8020 multitouch keyboard incorporates Windows 8 gestures to let users navigate the OS with swipes and pinches, eliminating the need for a touch display, the company said.
It allows users to switch between three different modes on the touchpad — mouse cursor, Windows 8 gestures and numeric keypad — by pressing the Mode key. The touchpad provides the following Windows 8 gestures: slide, swipe, swipe from four edges, zoom in/out and page up/down. The gestures also work in Windows 7, Vista and XP.
The keyboard has 11 function keys for media control, Internet access shortcuts and powering on/off.
The T8020 has a thin 0.7-inch profile and weighs 10.2 ounces for portability and ships with a USB pico receiver that can be stored inside the keyboard. Two AAA batteries are also included.
The Genius SlimStar T8020 is now available in North America for the suggested retail of $44.90.
