Gefen To Show Ultra HD Switcher At CEDIA

DENVER — Gefen (booth 1500) will use CEDIA Expo 2013 to show a selection of products supporting Ultra High-Definition 4K resolutions.

Seven new products in the Gefen ToolBox line include splitters for HDMI, which send A/V to multiple displays and matrix/switchers for HDMI, which access multiple sources with matrix switching to one or more displays.

“All of these new products include backward compatibility with 1080p or 2k resolutions, making them very useful additions to any existing or newly installed system that wants to be viable in the near future too,” said Hagai Gefen, president.

Three new Gefen ToolBox Splitters for 4k Ultra HD offer 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 distributions for HDMI.

Resolutions up to 4K can be delivered to all displays at the same time with support for HDCP.

All three splitters come in wall-mountable black or white enclosures.

Three new Gefen ToolBox Switchers for 4K Ultra HD come in 4 by 1, 4 by 2, 4 by 4, and 6 by 2 configurations. All ship in October.

The 4 by 1 switcher ($449 suggested retail) offers access to four sources using one display.

The 6 by 2 Matrix for HDMI 4K offers access to six sources by two displays and carries a $799 suggested retail.

The 4 by 4 Matrix for HDMI 4K offers access to four sources by four displays and carries an $899 suggested retail, and the 4 by 2 Matrix for HDMI 4K offers access to four sources by two displays and carries a $499 suggested retail.

All include Gefen Fast Switching Technology (FST) to eliminate delays and improve the HDCP authentication process.

Gefen will also show a new Gefen ToolBox Extender for 4K Ultra HD, delivering resolutions up to 4K along with RS-232 and bi-directional IR using one fiber optic cable.

Long distances up to 1,000 feet (300m) can be reached using this sender/receiver system along with a single fiber-optic cable terminated in SC. Wall or desktop-mounting enclosures allow maximum flexibility when installing the products.
