Geek Squad Calls For Ideas

Louisville, Ky. — Geek Squad, a group of nearly 12,000 computer technicians, owned by Best Buy, is hosting a contest for consumers called “What’s Your Big Idea.”
 Through the contest, Geek Squad is asking consumers to submit their ideas on how to improve the world through technology. Nine winners will have the chance to attend the IdeaFestival, here, Sept. 13-15, to “put their ideas in motion.”

Contestants are being asked to submit their ideas on one of the three following topics:

·         finding solutions for the environmental problems caused by eWaste;

·         solving power conservation issues; and

·         maximizing untapped resources.

Ideas can be submitted now through August 13 at www.geeksquad.com/ideafestival.

The nine winners, three for each category, will be flown to Louisville to participate in the festival. Each eligible submission will be posted on the Web site between July 23 and August 13, and the public will be able to vote on their favorite submissions.

The 20 submissions that receive the most votes from the public will be named finalists and then, after August 13, a panel of judges will review the finalists and pick the winners.

Full contest rules are available at the Geek Squad site.

Geek Squad will be acting as a title sponsor for this year’s IdeaFestival, and it will also act as the festival’s official tech support. For more information on the festival, visit www.IdeaFestival.com
