LOUISVILLE, KY. – GE Appliances is voluntarily recalling about 62,000 GE Profile front-load washers after receiving 19 reports of wash tubs separating from the units.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which jointly announced the recall, 10 of the incidents resulted in top panel breakage, although no injuries were reported.
The washers were imported from China and sold at Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sears and The Home Depot from 2008 to 2011 for between $1,200 and $1,600.
GE is offering consumers free repairs on the affected models, which include the WPDH8800, 8900 and 8910 series.
