Irvine, Calif. — Gateway shipped its first quad-core processor equipped desktop to retail today.
The unit will sell under Gateway’s high-end FX line through select Best Buy locations along with Micro Center and J&R Stores. The PC will also be available through these chain’s Web sites and online from Circuit City and CompUSA.
The suggested retail is $2,099.
The configure-to-order unit is powered by an Intel Core Quad Q6600 processor and features a 512MB ATI Radeon X1950 graphics card, 1TB or 500GB hard drive and various amounts of memory.
In addition to the new PC, Gateway started shipping its portable media drive. The 120GB drive is selling for $149.
