Irvine, Calif. — Gateway has added a new model to its P-series FX edition line of notebooks aimed at gamers, entertainment enthusiasts and digital media hobbyists.
The P-7811FX, the company’s first notebook powered by Intel Centrino 2 processor technology, features Intel’s Core 2 Duo P8400 processor and an the NVIDIA GeForce 9800m graphics card.
The notebook has a 17-inch widescreen with 1,920 by 1,200 resolution. It offers an HDMI v1.3 connection
Notable design features include its illuminated multimedia keys that are integrated into the area surrounding the keyboard for easy access to audio and video functions. It also has a touch-control volume slide.
The device also features a 1.3-megapixel Web cam, is equipped with 802.22 Draft-n wireless technology, a five-in-one media card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE 1394 port and an eSATA port.
It comes complete with 4GB of memory, a 200GB hard drive, an available second drive bay, and a multiformat dual-layer DVDR-W and DVD-RAM with LabelFlash. Microsoft Windows Home Premium 64-bit Edition is included.
Gateway, which recently announced it is
dropping its direct-sales operation
, said the P-7811FX is available now at Best Buy and that the product has a suggested retail of $1,399.
