Fujifilm Expands Photo Paper Line, Partners with Lexmark

Valhalla, N.Y. — Fuji Photo Film expanded its line of inkjet photo paper and announced a partnership with printer manufacturer Lexmark to comarket the papers alongside the company’s inkjet photo printers.

This fall, Fujifilm’s photo inkjet paper will be promoted with Lexmark inkjet photo printers and ink cartridges at participating retail outlets. In addition to the existing Premium Plus line, Fujifilm will add a higher-end Gallery Select and an entry-level Family line of inkjet photo paper to its lineup.

Gallery Select paper offers longer durability and will be shipped in 4-inch by 6-inch and 8.5-inch by 11-inch sizes in varying paper counts from a suggested $9.99 to $24.99.

The Family photo paper is aimed at affordability with prices starting at $5.99. It is also available in 4-inch by 6-inch and 8.5-inch by 11-inch sizes.

Both papers are shipping now and feature Fujifilm’s proprietary “Super Performance Technology” derived from the company’s film coating production process. According to Fujifilm, the result is a family of photo paper with more coating layers than competitive products for “better color control and accuracy.”

According to an August study by the Hanover, Mass-based research firm I.T. Strategies, the total revenue for the narrow format inkjet market — including paper, inks and hardware — will grow at a compound annual rate of 8 percent, from $32 billion in 2004 to close to $47 billion by 2008.
