Fry, Shapiro To Speak At CE Week June 27

Arlington, Va. – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has added two additions to the Digital Downtown Conference at CEA Line Shows — a Q&A session between Fry’s Electronics president and co-founder and CEA chairman Randy Fry and Gary Shapiro, CEA president/CEO, and a presentation by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) president Seth Pinsky.

The 2012 CEA Line Shows and Digital Downtown Conference is scheduled for June 27-28 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building in New York City.

Fry will be interviewed by Shapiro at 9:20 a.m. on June 27 for a one-on-one discussion about the current state of retail. It will be held in the Metropolitan Pavilion, Metropolitan Suite, second floor. The two will discuss what retailers are doing to stay on top in this economic climate as well as the challenges, opportunities and CE trends facing retailers.

NYCEDC’s Pinsky will kick off Day 2 of CEA Line Shows with a keynote presentation at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, in the Metropolitan Pavilion, Metropolitan Suite, second floor. Pinsky will talk about how the Bloomberg administration is working to build on the growth of New York City’s start-up community and secure a leadership position for the city in the 21st century innovation economy.

In addition, for the first time during a live CE Week event, TWICE and The NPD Group will present the 2012 Success Stories Awards on Wednesday, June 27, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building.

Hosted by Steve Smith, editor in chief of TWICE, and Steve Baker, industry analysis VP of NPD, the awards honor top-selling CE models in key product categories based on unit sales at retail measured by the NPD Group.
