New York — Sirius Satellite Radio announced that Ford Motor Company will begin offering Sirius in its vehicles this month as a factory option for $195 suggested retail price, including a six-month subscription.
As announced in January, Ford will offer Sirius on up to 21 Ford and Lincoln Mercury vehicles, possibly generating up to 1 million Sirius subscribers during the 2006-2007 model year.
Ford vehicles providing Sirius include the Ford F150 this month, Lincoln Mark LT in September, and in December the Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer.
Sirius radios will arrive at the dealership pre-activated, allowing the dealer to demonstrate the service and eliminating the need for the consumer to perform the activation.
Nearly 90 percent of Ford and Lincoln Mercury vehicles will have Sirius as a factory-installed option for the 2008 model year, Sirius said.
