Palo Alto, Calif. — Heralding record revenue in all of its seven business segments, computer and printer maker Hewlett-Packard claimed an 8 percent increase in consolidated revenue and a 26.5 percent rise in net income for its fiscal fourth quarter.

BJ’s Sales Climb 9.8%, Net Up 13.8% In Qtr.


Natick, Mass. — A selected-member-based merchandising plan and operational improvements both contributed to “solid” third-quarter and nine-month comp-store sales growth at BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Framingham, Mass. — As its customers reportedly responded to strong execution and ease of shopping experience, resulting in “rapid market-share gains,” office supply retailer Staples increased consolidated fiscal third-quarter sales by 12 percent, rising to $3.8 billion from a year-ago $3.4 billion.

Home Depot Sales Jump 13.1% In. Fiscal Q3


Atlanta — Growing services and a successful professional supply business lifted fiscal third-quarter sales 13.1 percent at The Home Depot, rising to $18.8 billion from a year-ago $16.6 billion. Comp-store sale increased 4.5 percent.

Wal-Mart Sales Rise 9.7% In Fiscal Q3


Bentonville, Ark. — An improving economy and a solid positioning for the holidays is only an encore for Wall-Mart Stores, which came in earlier with record consolidated fiscal third-quarter sales and earnings.

Lowe’s Sales Climb 16.2% In Fiscal Q3, Net Rises 15.5%


Mooresville, N.C. — An ongoing robust housing market, improving employment and strong demographic trends helped produce a 16.2 percent sales increase in the fiscal third-quarter at home improvement retailer Lowe’s. Sales rose to $9.1 billion from a year-ago $7.8 billion. Comp-store sales in the three months rose 5.2 percent.
