Mountain View, Calif. – Eye-Fi introduced Monday its Mobi Class 10 Wi-Fi card that sends images directly to a mobile device without the need to connect to a computer first.
The Eye-Fi Mobi, which carries a $50 suggested retail for an 8GB card and $80 for 16GB, is designed for photographers who have become accustomed to the convenience of storing images on their smartphones and tablets.
The Mobi is powered by a free iOS/Android app that enables viewing images to be sent to a connected device. It ships with a 10-digit activation code that can be used to make a connection with as many devices as desired. The card will then continuously send photos and video to a device.
The card acts as its own hot spot, and does not need to be in range of a Wi-Fi network.

The Mobi will also allow sharing high-resolution videos in real time and provide instant, automatic backup of photo and video files.
Eye-Fi said it will continue to provide the Pro X2 16GB wireless solution for professional and amateur photographers, who require wireless upload support for RAW image to PC/Mac computers and optional integrated backup in the Cloud.
