Epoq Adds Video Watches

Boca Raton, Fla. — Epoq Multimedia, a vendor of high-performance televisions, has broadened its product line with a line of portable media players that can be worn on the wrist like a watch.

New to the Video Watch Line is a pair of models with stainless steel case designs. The EMP-CVWD-2 is designed as a dress watch, and the other, model EMP-CVWS-2, adds a sport urethane band. Both will launch exclusively through ecommerce retailer First To You (www.firsttoyou.com).

The EMP-CVWD-2, shipping in July at a $199 suggested retail, includes 2GBs of internal flash storage and a wide screen 1.8-inch LCD display. It features MP4 video playback, photo viewer and MP3 music player. Epoq said the watch can also be used to read ebooks.

The music player portion is compatible with MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA and WAV files, while the movie player section accepts MP4, ebook and picture files. Photos are viewed using a built in browser supporting JPEG slide-show pictures. USB 2.0 inputs are supplied along with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery life. Epoq said a 4GB version will be added later.

The EMP-CVWS-2 sport model (shipping in July at $159) includes 2GBs of storage capacity and a contemporary chromed stainless-steel case, with a flat crystal, and a sport urethane band. It is water resistant, when not connected to headphones or USB devices.

The watch features a 1.5-inch, 260,000-pixel OLED color screen that shows date and time. The player supports MP4 video playback (at 128 by 128 pixel resolution) and music files in the MP3, WMA and MP4 (SMV) formats. The watch offers eight hours of continuous playback power, built-in voice recording, five equalizer modes, super bass 3-D sound, a JPEG photo viewer, an ebook reader and lyric display.
