Emotiva Expands Reference Speaker Series

Franklin, Tenn. – Consumer-direct
audio supplier

Emotiva Audio

expanded its
speaker selection with its first mid-level lineup, the nine-speaker X-ref
series.

The new line consists of nine models, including towers,
mini monitors, subwoofers, LCR speakers and a dedicated surround speaker. All
are two-way models. Four more models are planned in the second quarter.

A new and expanded reference line and a limited-edition
entry level line are due next summer, the company added.

Because the company designs and
builds its own products and sells direct to consumers, Emotiva positions itself
as providing lower prices on products that deliver the performance and build
quality of costlier products sold through retailers.

The X-Ref lineup starts with two
vented tower models, the XRT-6.2 tower at $999/pair and the $799/pair XRT 5.2.
The former features dual 6.5-inch long-throw woofers and 1-inch silk-dome
tweeter. It reproduced bass down to 35Hz. The XRT 5.2 is a more compact version
with dual 5.25-inch drivers and the same tweeter and crossover.

Two compact speakers can be used
as LCRs or surrounds and mounted on a shelf or stands. They are the $399-each
XRC-6.2 and $299-each XRC-5.2. The former features dual 6.5-inch woofers
flanking a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter. The other features two 5.25-inch woofers.
Both are voice-matched for use with other X-Ref speakers.

A dedicated surround speaker is
the $349/pair XRS-4.1. The dipole speaker is designed for use as a wall-mounted
side- or back-surround speaker.

Two mini monitors are designed
for desktop audio use, personal studios and smaller listening spaces. The
$499/pair XRM-6.1 features 6.5-inch woofer and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter in a
vented cabinet. The smaller XRM-4.1 at $229/pair fits features 4-inch woofer
and silk-dome tweeter.

In subwoofers, the company
launched the $699 X-Ref 12 with 600-watt amplifier and 12-inch blended-fiber
cone to deliver response down to 20Hz. The smaller $499 X-Ref 10 delivers bass
down to 25 Hz with a 10-inch woofer and 300-watt amplifier.

All X-Ref speakers use braced MDF
enclosures to reduce distortion and furniture-grade satin lacquer finishes.
