Littleton, Colo. – EchoStar Communications today reported it posted a $46 million profit on sales of $1.17 billion for its second quarter, compared to $966 in sales and a $5.8 million loss during the same period last year.
EchoStar’s DISH Network said it added 295,000 new subscribers during the quarter, ended June 30, giving the company a subscriber base of 7.46 million. This is 23 percent more than the company had at this time in 2001.
The new subscribers resulted in an operating income increase of $146 million, up from $64 million in 2001.
