Calabasas, Calif. – DTS
promoted Brian Towne to executive VP/COO from executive VP and general manager.
Towne will continue to oversee day-to-day licensing,
marketing and product management efforts at DTS but is now also tasked with “refining
its [DTS’s] strategy and go-to-market execution” to further strengthen the
company, DTS said. “He will also be engaging with key strategic partners and
stakeholders inside and outside the company,” the company noted.
Towne joined
DTS in 2003 as senior VP of the consumer/pro audio division, then became senior
VP/GM of the consumer division before becoming executive VP/GM in 2009. Previously,
he was Kenwood product management director, and he had held R&D and
marketing positions at Pioneer Electronics. He was an electronics specialist in
the U.S. Marine Corps.
“Under Brian’s leadership over the past seven
years, we have enjoyed tremendous growth, adapted to significant change and
evolution in our business, and realized significant success,” said chairman/CEO
Jon Kirchner. The promotion “recognizes Brian’s important leadership
contribution,” Kirchner added.
