Peabody, Mass. — Boston Acoustics launched five new enclosed drop-in subwoofer systems for
the car, returning to the drop-in market after an absence of about two years.
A spokesperson cited dealer feedback and growing
segment sales for the launch.
The GTuned systems feature Boston’s 10- and 12-inch
G1 series subwoofers loaded in a ported prefabricated MDF enclosure covered in black automotive carpet. Each enclosure is designed to
optimize the output of
the driver it houses.
In the new models, Boston is outboarding its SureSet fuse protection
from the subwoofers themselves to a flush-set terminal cup on the enclosure for
easier access. SureSet uses a standard ATC fuse.
Prices range from $199 to $849, including subwoofer
driver. Each model requires a separately purchased amplifier.
The $199 G110PS features 10-inch subwoofer rated at
200 watts RMS into 4 ohms. The $219 G112PS features 12-inch subwoofer rated at 200 watts
RMS into 4 ohms. The $329 G110PD features 10-inch 400-watts subwoofer rated
into 2 ohms. The $349 G112PD features 10-inch 400-watt sub rated into 2 ohms,
and the $849 SPG555PS features 1,000-watts RMS sub rated into 2 ohms.
