San Francisco – About
the only thing that

Dolby Laboratories

doesn’t compress is profits.

The developer of digital-audio compression
and post-processing technologies posted double-digit percentage gains in sales,
operating profits and net profits in its fiscal third quarter ending June 25.

Revenues rose 34 percent in the quarter to
$230.3 million and 25.1 percent in the nine-month period to $694.9 million.

Operating income rose 22.3 percent in the
quarter to $95.9 million and by 11.3 percent for the nine-month period to
$332.2 million.

Net income rose in the quarter by 24.1 percent
to $63.5 million and for the nine months by 9.9 percent to $218.4.

“In addition to our strong financial results,”
said president/CEO Kevin Yeaman, “we continued to make progress in important
growth markets, including in broadcast, where one of India’s leading commercial
broadcast services, Airtel Digital TV, announced its selection of Dolby Digital
Plus for its high-definition programming, and in cinema, where we continued to
experience strong demand for our 3D systems.”
