Mahwah, N.J. — D&M Holdings entered into a distribution agreement with Sound United to distribute Sound United’s Polk and Definitive Technology brands in multiple European countries.
D&M markets the Denon and Marantz electronics brands and the Boston Acoustics speaker brand worldwide.
Beginning in May, D&M will distribute select Polk and Definitive Technology products in the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, and the Benelux countries.
“Both brands will perfectly complement our Denon and Marantz portfolios,” said Terry O’Connell, sales and marketing president of D&M Europe.
Sound United president Kevin Duffy called D&M “a great fit for distributing our audio products” as part of United’s plans to continue to expand its business internationally.
Earlier this week, D&M Holdings sold off the remainder of its pro-audio businesses — Denon Professional, Marantz Professional and Denon DJ — as part of its effort to focus exclusively on its Denon, Marantz and Boston Acoustics consumer brands. D&M sold its Calrec pro business in March and sold its Allen & Heath pro-audio business last June.
The Bain Capital-owned company, which does business as D+M Group, is considering the sale of its OEM car-audio business, which makes and markets amps and speakers to automakers.
