Dish Sees Q1 Subscriber Growth

Englewood, Colo. —

Dish
Network

today reported a 5.5 percent increase in total revenue to $3.22
billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 compared to $3.06 billion in the
same period in 2010.

 Net income attributable to
common shareholders totaled $549 million for the period, compared with $231
million during the corresponding period in 2010.

Dish Network said it gained approximately 58,000 net subscribers
during the quarter for a total of approximately 14.191 million cumulative
subscribers. The satellite TV service reported a loss of 156,000 customers in
the fourth quarter.

Dish increased its subscriber fees by $5 to all customers in
February, the equivalent of a three-year price increase in one installment.

In a conference call, Charlie Ergen, Dish Network chairman and
CEO, said the price hike was made “remarkably smoothly.”
