Englewood, Colo. — EchoStar’s DISH Network joined rival DirecTV and a number of cable multiple system operators around the country in adding the TBS-HD channel in time for the Major League Baseball divisional playoff series.
The channel addition brings DISH Network’s national HD channel count to 48 — “the most offered by any other pay-TV provider in the country,” the satellite service said.
DISH carries TBS-HD on channel 139, which it made available to all subscribers of the DishHD tier.
DISH said it now carries more than 70 HD channels, including 48 national channels, 22 regional sports networks and local HD channels.
DishHD is available free for six months to new customers. New DISH Network subscribers may also receive a free upgrade for the period.
The network is also offering both current and new subscribers up to $800 savings on the purchase of select Sharp HD LCD TVs through Jan. 31, 2008.
