Directed Buys Trilogix

Vista, Calif. — Directed Electronics has acquired Trilogix Electronic Systems and its affiliates for an undisclosed sum. Trilogix supplies solutions for simplifying installation of remote starters.

Directed, a leader in car security and remote-start sales, said the acquisition is important “given the increasingly high attachment rate of integration modules to remote start sales,” according to corporate development and marketing senior VP Kevin Duffy.

Trilogix specializes in developing databuses (mini computers) used to send commands from the remote starter to the car’s computer network for functions such as door lock/unlock. The company will continue to operate “as a separate entity” said Derek Schumann who remains president and who will retain his current management team. Trilogix currently sells its databus and integration systems to companies including Audiovox, Omega Research and Aamp of America.
