Diplomat Merchandise Holds Its Third Annual N.Y. Dealer Show

Sun TV & Appliances recently opened its third Cincinnati outlet, a 50,000-square-foot superstore. Robert Oyster, chairman of the Colombus-based chain, said Sun will be opening several more supersotres in the next few months and is evaluating store sites in several new markets in Ohio and adjacent states.

? 6th Avenue Electronics says that its new 10,000-square-foot Livingston, N.J. store on Route 10 will open on October 1. The chain’s other previously announced new location (TWICE, September 4, page 14) is a 20,000-square-foot store on Route 18 in East Brunswick, N.J. This expansion will give the chain four stores, all located in New Jersey.

? Audio King is doubling the size of its store in Roseville, Minn. to about 18,000 square feet. It has already begun interior construction and expects the addition to be completed in time for holiday sales. The store will include three audio rooms, three car stereo rooms and a home theater demo area.

? Roberds opened new stores in Athens and Fayetteville, Ga. over the Labor Day weekend, raising its operating store count to 23. Chairman Kenneth Fletcher said construction is on schedule for a January opening of a 480,000-squqre-foot warehouse in Fairborn, Ohio. It will serve the chain’s six Dayton-area stores as well as a 250,000-square-foot showroom opening next year in Cincinnati.
