D&H’s ‘What’s Trending’ Shows SKU Popularity

Harrisburg, Pa. — D&H Distributing is introducing “What’s Trending,” an online tool that lists the most frequently viewed items on DandH.com, updated several times daily.

Dealers and retailers can now see a roster of hot products in different markets at a glance. “What’s Trending” delivers insights into shopping trends, so e-tailers, retailers and consumer electronics dealers can make this information part of an educated purchasing decision, the distributor said.

The list can be viewed on the DandH.com search results page, in addition to a dedicated “What’s Trending” page, which can be accessed through the left hand menu on DandH.com’s log-in home page.

The list itemizes products according to four market divisions:  Consumer Electronics, Computer Products, Video Gaming and Education, D&H said.

Results in each division can be further refined to identify hot items in sub-categories.  Listings include product information and pricing for each item.  Refreshed throughout the day, the results provide intelligence on a nearly real-time basis.  Such statistics can help dealers stay competitive in a rapidly evolving marketplace, D&H said.

For example, on its debut afternoon, the list showed that the Hauppauge Computer Works HD PVR 2 video recorder was the most popular item in the consumer electronics market segment.

Clicking on the TV & Video tab to the right of the Trending list to filter their results revealed the Toshiba 50L2200U 50-inch 1080p LED-LCD TV as the most popular item in this sub-category. The iHome’s Studio Monitor Style stereo headphones was the top-viewed product in the headphones sub-category.

Similarly, in the Video Gaming market segment, the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming controller was the most popular item on the list.

“We’re enthusiastic about the ability to deliver valuable market metrics through the ‘What’s Trending’ list.  It will be exciting to see how trends morph and advance on a daily, or even an hourly, schedule,” said Jeff Davis, sales senior VP at D&H. “We’ve made use of purchasing data internally for many years to determine what categories contribute to our growth.  Now we’re turning shopping information over to our customers, providing ongoing visibility into the market.
