Harrisburgh, Pa. – D&H Distributing will open a new warehouse in Atlanta in May.
The 476,000 square foot facility will be the distributor’s largest warehouse and serve the Southeast and portions of the Midwest. According to the company, the new distribution center can reduce customer freight costs by up to six percent vs. the previous practice of shipping goods from smaller facilities in Dallas and Jacksonville, Fla.
These smaller centers will be merged into the new Atlanta warehouse, which is expected to employ 100 people.
The new distributor center will give D&H “parallel logistical efficiencies” enabling the company to reach most of the U.S. in two days or less, D&H said.
The facility, which can be expanded up to 680,000 square-feet, will feature energy-efficient lighting with automated sensors, on-site recycling for cardboard and plastic and the ability to halt conveyors and sorters when not in use.
