LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — Aereo will expand its “antennae/DVR” local TV via the Cloud service to the Denver metropolitan area beginning today.
The new territory includes 67 counties across Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming, potentially serving more than 3.4 million consumers.
Denver metro area residents who pre-register at the company’s website (Aereo.com) will receive priority access to sign up. Using Aereo’s remote (Cloud-based) antenna/DVR technology, consumers can pause, rewind and fast-forward any program that they are watching live, or save a program for future viewing.
In the Denver metropolitan region, consumers will be able to use Aereo’s service to record and watch more than 40 over-the-air channels, several special interest and foreign language channels.
Aereo charges a monthly fee, starting at $8, for access to Aereo’s Cloud-based antenna/DVR technology and 20 hours of DVR storage. For $12 a month consumers receive 60 hours of DVR storage. As a signing promotion, consumers who join get the first month of service free. Aereo’s technology works on a variety of tablets, smartphones and computers.
